Nigeria: Ajibade targets first trophy win in France after firing PSG past Paris FC

Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade has turned her attention to silverware after guiding Paris Saint-Germain Women into the final of the Coupe LFFP with an emphatic win over Paris FC Women, Soccernet.ng reports.

Ajibade was among the goals as PSG sealed a comfortable 3-0 victory in Saturday’s semi-final. The win confirmed their dominance over their city rivals for the second time in a week after an identical league scoreline.

Soon after the match, the Nigerian forward shared her excitement on social media.

Quoting a post from PSG celebrating her goal, she wrote:

” on to the final “

The derby started cautiously, with both sides struggling to create clear chances in the opening stages. Paris FC came closest in the 10th minute when Klaudia Jedlinska’s angled effort struck the crossbar.

However, the game changed completely after the break as PSG stepped up the tempo and began to control proceedings.

Romée Leuchter broke the deadlock just two minutes into the second half, finishing calmly to put the hosts ahead. Merveille Kanjinga then doubled the advantage in the 60th minute, giving PSG firm control of the contest.

Ajibade seals victory as PSG march into historic final

The Nigeria international struck in the 89th minute after finding space inside the box, before coolly guiding a well-placed shot past goalkeeper Tara Elimbi Gilbert to make it 3-0. Her goal capped a dominant display and moved PSG one step away from lifting the trophy in the competition’s first-ever edition.

Ajibade only joined the French giants in 2025 after four successful seasons with Atlético Madrid Women, where she won both the Copa de la Reina and the Spanish Super Cup.

Now settled in France, the 26-year-old is already making a big impact, combining pace, movement and calm finishing to become one of PSG’s key players.

With the final approaching, Ajibade’s form could be crucial as PSG chase history, and a victory would hand the Super Falcons captain her first trophy since arriving in French football.
