Thwarted battle of Nigerian brothers: Raspadori rises for Napoli in Osimhen’s absence to break Milan hearts

The game could have witnessed Osimhen and Chukwueze go up against each other, but injury thwarted that possibility

Italian striker Giacomo Raspadori scored in the second half to help Napoli secure a hard-fought 2-2 draw against AC Milan, Soccernet reports.

Napoli welcomed Serie A rivals AC Milan to the Deigo Maradona in unarguably the biggest game this weekend. Both clubs were missing some of their attacking talents, as Napoli were without talismanic striker Victor Osimhen, while AC Milan did not have Samuel Chukwueze.

AC Milan had a dream start, with Olivier Giroud giving them the lead after just 22 minutes. Then, nine minutes later, the Frenchman doubled his side’s lead and put them in pole position to win the game. The Rossoneri took their lead into the break, but Napoli emerged with more urgency in the second half.

Matteo Politano pulled one back for the Serie A champions in the 50th minute. Then, Raspadori got the vital equaliser in the 63rd minute. AC Milan and Napoli had multiple chances to win the game, but they fluffed their lines and had to settle for a 2-2 stalemate.

In the end, it was a great spectacle and a good advertisement for Serie A football. But some fans would have relished seeing Osimhen and Chukwueze go against each other. However, injuries stopped it.

Nonetheless, both players would hope that they are fit enough for the second leg.
