2025/2026 Champions League final: Ex-Super Eagles star reveals what Arsenal & PSG must do to win

Former Super Eagles midfielder Mutiu Adepoju has shared his thoughts on what will be key for either PSG or Arsenal to lift the trophy in tonight’s UEFA Champions League final, Soccernet.ng reports.

Arsenal and PSG are set to lock horns in a high-stakes battle for European glory today. Both teams have established themselves as two of the absolute best clubs in Europe this season, and the margins between them appear very thin.

The Gunners enter this big occasion hunting for their first-ever UEFA Champions League triumph. Meanwhile, their opponents, PSG, arrive as the undisputed kings of France, desperate to conquer Europe for the second consecutive time.

Both clubs sealed their respective domestic league titles just a few weeks ago, meaning momentum and morale will be very high on both sides.

Also, both squads boast world-class talent. Les Parisiens have a very lethal attacking unit with Ousmane Dembélé, Désiré Doué, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who has arguably been their best player this season.

On the other hand, Arsenal have been the best defensive team in Europe this term. Their formidable center-back partnership of William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães has earned a fearsome reputation, consistently assuring the Gunners of absolute solidity at the back.

PSG vs Arsenal: What Mutiu Adepoju Said About the Champions League

In big finals like this, the thinnest of margins usually separate the sides. The clash could easily drag into extra time or even be decided by the lottery of a penalty shootout.

Former Super Eagles star Mutiu Adepoju knows exactly what it takes to perform at the highest level in Europe, having played for Real Madrid B, Real Sociedad, and Racing Santander during his playing days. Even though he never graced a Champions League final himself, he fully understands the gravity of this occasion.

In an exclusive interview with Soccernet.ng, “The Headmaster” admitted there is very little to separate the two giants, noting that the match will ultimately come down to discipline. He believes that whichever team manages to minimize errors on the night will emerge victorious.

“I'm not a fan of Arsenal or PSG; I only know that they played great football to get to this level, and I just wish that the best team wins,” Adepoju said.

“When you have so many stars in both teams, it is difficult to pinpoint exactly who will shine. All of them will display their qualities, and I know that whoever makes the fewest mistakes will win. Both teams play attacking football and have a lot of top players, but it will come down to who executes their skills and abilities best under pressure,” the retired Super Eagles star added.

With both teams operating like well-oiled machines under highly methodical managers, no detail will be left to chance. The stage is set at the Puskás Aréna in Budapest, and after 90 minutes—or perhaps more—the new kings of Europe will be crowned.
