Galatasaray vs Liverpool: Arne Slot reveals why Victor Osimhen will struggle against his team

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has warned that Victor Osimhen will face a much tougher test when the Reds lock horns with Galatasaray on Tuesday, according to Soccernet.ng.

The Turkish giants are set to welcome the reigning English champions to Rams Park for a high-stakes UEFA Champions League Round of 16 encounter.

With a quarter-final berth on the line, the opening leg of this knockout tie will likely dictate the tempo for the entire aggregate battle.

While Liverpool arrives with a star-studded squad featuring the likes of Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, Galatasaray counters with their own talisman.

Super Eagles striker Osimhen remains the undisputed poster boy for the Cimbom this season, having already reached an impressive seven goals and two assists in eight Champions League appearances.

Notably, one of those goals came against Liverpool during the group stage last September, where Osimhen's winner secured a 1-0 victory and tormented the Reds' backline.

Galatasaray fans are hoping for a repeat performance, but Slot insists his defense is better prepared this time around.

Speaking ahead of the Tuesday night showdown, Arne Slot emphasized that the element of surprise is gone.

He noted that his defenders are now familiar with the Nigerian’s movement and have developed a specific blueprint to neutralize him.

”Galatasaray has many weapons, especially in the transition game… In that sense, Osimhen is the first name that comes to mind,” Slot remarked.

”He is lethal in the penalty area and dominant in aerial duels. He excels in counter-attacks and transitions. We have taken special precautions, and the advantage we have now is that our center-backs have faced him before.”

This fixture marks the first time a Turkish club has reached the Champions League Round of 16 in 12 years.

Given Galatasaray’s significant transfer investments over the last two seasons, they will be hungry for more than just a knockout appearance.

With Osimhen's relentless work rate and the elite talent on display for both sides, football fans can expect an enthralling tactical battle in Istanbul.
