Report: Southampton reduce Onuachu’s valuation but Trabzonspor stall on deal

Southampton have reduced their valuation for Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu to €9 million, amid interest from Trabzonspor, Soccernet.ng reports.

Onuachu has emerged as a prominent transfer target for Trabzonspor following his impressive performances for the club last season. The 30-year-old striker spent last season on a one-year loan deal at Trabzonspor from Southampton, and he registered 17 goals and four assists in 25 appearances for them.

This summer, Onuachu’s future has been on the frontburner, as it appears that Southampton no longer need his services, while Trabzonspor want to sign him permanently.

However, the Saints’ demands has been the major drawback. At first, Southampton wanted €15 million before sanctioning, but Trabzonspor were unwilling to meet their valuation.

Then, they reduced their asking price to €11 million, but the fee was still too much for Trabzonspor.

Now, according to a new report from DikFootball, the Saints have cut down their price again. Southampton will be willing to part with Onuachu for €9 million.

But according to the report, Trabzonspor are still unwilling to pay that fee. The club want to pay €5 million in two installments plus €2 million add-ons.

It is unlikely that Southampton will agree to this deal, because it would be a significant loss for them after getting Onuachu for €15 million barely 18 months ago.

However, since they are desperate to get the Nigerian off their books, they may just find an agreement with Trabzonspor.
