Soccernet.ng monitored a few matches that could potentially involve Nigerian players on Wednesday, March 13th.

Here are the most eye-catching highlights:

Italy

Milan U-19 are through to the semifinals of the UEFA Youth League after defeating Real Madrid U-19 on penalties at the Puma House of Football – Centro P. Vismara in Milan.

Lagos-born Victor Eletu and Italian-Nigerian youngster Kevin Zeroli featured for Milan as the two teams played out a 1-1 draw in regulation time.

Milan triumphed 4-3 in the ensuing penalty shootout, with Zeroli netting the winning kick.

India

In the Indian Super League, 20-year-old Emmanuel Justine came off the bench to assist Kerala Blasters’ last goal in their thrilling 3-4 home defeat to Mohun Bagan.

Japan

In the J-League Cup, Kenneth Otabor fired home the decisive goal that inspired Grulla Morioka to a slim 1-0 victory against Tochigi, sealing the club’s progress to the second round.

Origbaajo Ismaila was a second-half substitute for Tochigi.

Serbia

Super Eagles striker Peter Olayinka impressed for Red Star Belgrade as they carved out a narrow 1-0 away Super Liga win at Radnički Niš.

Spain

Despite Rasheedat Ajibade’s contribution, Atletico de Madrid are out of the Copa de la Reina after losing 3-2 on aggregate to Real Sociedad.

Ajibade assisted Atletico’s only goal in their 1-1 draw with Sociedad in the first leg.

However, the Nigeria international could do little to help her side avoid a 2-1 defeat in the return leg at the Reale Arena in Donostia-San Sebastián.

South Africa

Super Eagles goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi and Moroka Swallows have crashed out of the Nedbank Cup after losing 2-1 to the University of Pretoria inside the Tuks Stadium in Pretoria.

Akpeyi made several crucial saves, but he could not keep out Thabang Sibanyoni’s 92nd-minute winner as Moroka Swallows continued their search for their first Nedbank Cup title since 2009.
