NPFL: Sporting Lagos snap up Super-Eagles striker to bolster attack

Sporting Lagos F.C were recently promoted to the Nigerian league topflight after two years

Newly promoted NPFL side, Sporting Lagos have secured the services of Super Eagles and former Remo-Stars forward, Junior Lokosa, Soccernet.ng reports.

Lokosa, who joined Remo-Stars earlier this year, will now join up with the rest of the Sporting Lagos side for the 2023/2024 NPFL season, as they look to add experience and clinicality to their attack in the coming season to ensure their top-flight status stays sealed, and also to finish as high as possible in the League table next season.

Lokosa, a man well-experienced in his football journey, both home and abroad, has previously played for First Bank F.C., Kano Pillars, Esperance, Simba SC, Kwara United, Al-Rayyan and Sporting’s south-west rivals, Remo Stars.

The 29-year-old got a Super Eagles call-up after an outstanding season with First Bank F.C. saw him score nineteen goals in the NPFL, and that meant he won the Eunisell golden boot award, and getting an inclusion in the 30-man provisional squad list for the Russia 2018 world cup, although he didn’t make the final 23-man squad that represented the country at the tournament.

A proven winner, and a skilful forward, Lokosa has won the CAF Champions League, and the Tunisian Cup, and his experience and winning mentality would prove inept and highly valuable for his new club side, Sporting Lagos.

Sporting continue their exploits after their win in the Naija Super 8 tournament against south-west rivals, Remo-Stars, and could be en route to the semi-final with just a draw in their next group game against Katsina United tomorrow.
