U-17 AFCON: Senegalese top scorer snubs Liverpool hero Mane, aims to be like Napoli star Osimhen

Senegal has produced some top-class goal poachers, but Diouf aspires to be like Osimhen

Senegalese youngster Amara Diouf, who tops the goals charts at the Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations has revealed his admiration for Super Eagles and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, Soccernet reports.

Osimhen has gently been establishing himself as the best goal poacher to come out from the continent. The Nigeria striker has scored 28 goals across all competitions this season, helping Napoli to their first Scudetto since 1990.

Also, he is the current highest-scoring African in the league, beating George Weah’s record of 46 goals in Italy.

Osimhen’s heroics have not just made an impact at Napoli. African players now aim to be like the Nigerian superstar.

Despite Senegal talisman Sadio Mane’s fantastic career, which has seen him claim multiple trophies, 14-year-old striker Diouf, who has five goals to his name at the ongoing AFCON still aims to be like Osimhen. “I dream of being like Victor Osimhen Why not?”, he said per Lorenz Köhler.

Diouf scored twice on Wednesday to book his country’s spot in the semifinals of the U-17 AFCON. They could play Nigeria if the Golden Eaglets can defeat Burkina Faso on Thursday.
