FIFA U20 World Cup: Land for Glory – Flying Eagles promised land prizes in Abuja

Each member of the Nigerian squad participating in the FIFA U20 World Cup in Argentina has been promised ownership of a five-metre square plot of land in Abuja if the team emerges as champions of the prestigious tournament, Soccernet.ng reports.

Alhaji Aliyu Oroje Wammako, a prominent figure in Nigerian football and President of the Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria, made this remarkable pledge on Tuesday during his visit to the team’s camp at the Hyatt Park Hotel in Mendoza, a day before their crucial match against Italy.

Wammako, known for his involvement in real estate, encouraged the players to maintain their focus and unity as they prepared for the upcoming encounter.

“I urge you to keep your focus in this tournament, and I pledge to award each and every player a five-metre square plot of land in the Federal Capital, Abuja if the team emerges as the winners of the FIFA U20 World Cup,” he declared.

Even when falling short of victory, Wammako assured the team of his support by providing a financial contribution that would benefit players and officials alike.

Having secured a 2-1 victory over the Dominican Republic in their opening match, two-time World Cup silver medalists Flying Eagles now face Italy’s U20 team on Wednesday at the Estadio Malvinas Argentinas in Mendoza as they strive to secure another vital three points during the group phase.
