Exciting Super Eagles prospect reveals Premier League ambition after making history in Belgium

The 20-year-old striker has been a revelation in recent weeks, and he has big dreams

Prospective Super Eagles striker Gift Orban is happy with his haul for Gent in their 6-2 demolition of Waregem on Sunday but he believes he still has to improve to achieve his dream of playing in the Premier League.

Orban has been mercurial since he joined Belgian Jupiler League club Gent from Norwegian second-tier club Stabaek in January.

The 20-year-old has churned out exhilarating performances for the Gantoise in recent weeks, and he is fast becoming a fan favourite.

Orban put four past Waregem when his side thrashed them 6-2 on Sunday. He is the only Gent player to player to score four goals in a Jupiler League this century. And at the rate at which he going, he looks set for greatness.

The former Bison FC man was happy with his performance at Waregem, but he believes he still has a lot of work to do if he is going to merit a move to the Premier League.

“It is indeed the first time in my professional career. I had never even made a hat trick, but it doesn’t mean much to me in the end,” Orban told Gent’s website.

“My level has to be even higher if I ever want to play in the Premier League. There is still a lot of work to be done,” he added.

Orban has now scored nine goals in his eight appearances for Gent. According to Opta, No player has scored more goals in the top ten European Leagues since Feb 11, when Gift Orban made his Gent league debut
