Balogun Shines, Aribo Subbed In As Rangers Overcome Stubborn Dundee

The Gers continued their unbeaten run to the start of the season with another excellent 2-1 over Dundee United at the Tannadice Park on Sunday afternoon.

Rangers recorded their 15th league win of the campaign with a narrow victory on a tough away ground, thanks to goals from James Tavernier and Conor Goldson.

Captain Tavernier is proving to be the Gers’ most influential star this term, with his tenth league goal opening the scoring with 26 minutes played.

The full-back then supplied the assist that led to Goldson’s winning strike shortly before halftime after Smith had leveled for the home side in the 33rd minute.

Nigeria international Leon Balogun was a calm and commanding figure at the heart of the Gers’ defence, featuring from start to finish in the matchday 17 clash.

Super Eagles teammate Joe Aribo was, however, introduced into the encounter with three minutes left of regulation time as manager Steven Gerrard looked to secure the win that takes his side to 47 points on the Scottish Premiership table.

Aribo has played in nine league matches for the Ibrox giants this term, with no Rangers midfielder scoring more than the former Charlton Athletic star who has four goals to his name.

Sixteen points now separate the league leaders from champions Celtic, currently languishing in third place, having played three fewer matches than their arch-rivals.
